Clackamas County Sunnybrook Public Service Center-Clackamas, Oregon

After a year of attempts by Clackamas County to construct an office building replacement at its Abernethy Office Complex that was subsequently denied by Oregon City, the commissioners instructed The Plan Company Architects to study alternative sites. Eventually developed as a zoning prototype design, one-stop permitting process, this project houses nine county regulatory agencies.

The solar trombe wall in the south exposed landmark stairway transfers heat to eventually run air conditioning. Sustainable material selections included carpeting at 15 percent, entry at 100 percent, PGE at 22 percent and a tight urban bio-swale.
